Check out these tips to keep your lips looking good and
healthy;
1. Drink, Drink, Drink
Consuming at least 9 cups of fluids daily will keep your
body, skin, and lips hydrated.
2. Go Easy with the Tongue
Saliva contains digestive enzymes that can break down lips’
protective barrier and dry them out. Resist the temptation to lick and instead
regularly apply lip balm.
3. Be a Balm Reader
Look for hydrating ingredients such as beeswax, shea butter,
vitamin E, and almond, jojoba, or coconut oils in lip balms. Good old petroleum
jelly (think: Vaseline) works well too.
4. Scrub Up
Just like face and body exfoliators, ones for your lips that
contain fruit-acid-based alpha or beta hydroxy acids slough of dead skin. But
if you have sensitive skin or your lips are severely chapped or cracked, use
these products no more than once weekly, as they can irritate skin and cause
stinging or persistent redness.
5. Switch Up Your Sticks
One reason matte lipsticks stay put for so long is that they
are drying—so if your lips are extremely chapped, use them sparingly.
