R&B singer Usher Raymond appears to be the latest victim of internet rumors today, as it was reported on Global Associated News
that he died in a car accident. The site is reported to create fake
celebrity death headlines–I suppose that’s entertainment to some–but
there is an actual article to go along with the headline, making it
appear to be credible. It garnered hundreds of tweets and upset fans
everywhere.
“Highway Safety Investigators have told reporters that Usher lost
control while driving a friend’s vehicle on Interstate 80 and rolled the
vehicle several times killing him instantly,” the report reads. “The
vehicle was believed to have been traveling at approximately 95 miles
per hour in a 55mph zone at the time of the accident. Witnesses have
stated that Usher’s car crossed the double lines several times prior to
the accident and hit the center lane divider causing the vehicle to flip
and roll.”
To their credit, it also states that drugs and alcohol don’t appear
to have been factors, but that didn’t stop rumors from circulating today
about the crash and exactly what caused it.
Omg iheard Usher is dead :’( BETTER NOT BE TRUE .
Wait what???? RT @JesusTaughtMe: usher better not be dead.

Stop it, you idiots. Usher is not dead. The fact that you’re so quick to believe this stuff makes me hurt as a journalist.
